The Faculty of Allied Health Professions was established in 2008. Currently, the Faculty has 2 schools under its care.

School of Nursing
School of Physiotherapy

Initially these two schools were under the School of Allied Health Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science. However, due to the increasing demand of the allied health courses and its intense academic activities. AIMST University has restructured some of the existing faculties, follows which the Faculty of Allied Health Professions was formed to oversee the specific allied health science courses in AIMST University.

The first intake of Diploma in Physiotherapy student was in April 2007; currently the school has increased its intakes to a total of 3 batches in the campus. While the School of Nursing had begun its first intake of 67 Diploma in Nursing students in September 2008. Till now, there are 2 batches of student with a total of 102.

Our Mission:
The AIMST University allied healthcare program is designed to advance the comprehensive performance of allied healthcare providers in the dynamic health care environment. We address the healthcare workforce shortage by preparing allied healthcare providers to be a competent, compassionate and well-balanced allied health care practitioner to provide optimal health services to the clients and the society at large, and enhance their professional roles through evidence-based critical thinking, culturally competent patient care, effective communication and the development of leadership skills.

Our Programs

AIMST University offers outstanding educational programs in a few ranges of health professional areas and promotes activities that foster the integration of health, wellness, and education.

We offer programs at the diploma level. The Bachelor in Nursing (post registration) and Diploma in Environment Health will be offered in the near future in our campus. All of eligible programs as below are fully accredited by the Malaysian professional and/or educational accrediting agencies.

Our faculty is highly experienced in their disciplines, have excellent teaching skills, and are committed to student learning through both teaching and learning. We provide up-to-date learning environments in a variety of settings. Our many collaborative activities across programs in the college, and with other educational and healthcare institutions also serve to enhance the education of our students.

In addition, our students have ready access to–and take advantage of an outstanding array of opportunities for clinical and practicum experiences in the hospital, community health care institutions and agencies situated in the State of Kedah . Thus, our students have exceptional on-campus and off-campus learning opportunities that prepare them for entry into their professions and for on-going professional development.

School of Nursing
As one of the world's oldest professions, Nursing is a challenging yet rewarding career with vast, international opportunities and prospects. It is also a vocation dedicated to the prevention of illness, alleviation of suffering and rehabilitation of patient of all ages and their families.

The Diploma in Nursing at AIMST University is a structured student-centred programme approved by the Nursing Board of Malaysia and Ministry of Higher Education. Theoretical learning is underpinned with practical experience in hospital and community setting. Clinical placement and training is conducted in special allocated government and private hospitals and also in state and district health clinics identified by Ministry of Health.

School of Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is an allied healthcare profession related with the prevention, evaluation and treatment of physical injuries and disorders of movement. This 3-year programme integrates the theoretical, clinical and practical inputs of the physiotherapy science.


Students will gain experience in various disciplines of physiotherapy such as respiratory care, neurology, musculoskeletal problems and disability impairment. Clinical placements are completed in hospital setting within the State of Kedah.

The programme also prepares the students in their clinical knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for health education and competent assessment, prevention as well as treatment and rehabilitation of patients with physical disorders.
