PROGRAMME INTRODUCTION

This program is structured with a comprehensive of basic bioscience subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Microbiology as well as Pharmaceutical Technology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy.


The curriculum also includes elective subjects such as geriatric pharmacy, veterinary pharmacy, drug modelling, pharmacoeconomics and alternative medicine. In addition to the technical subjects, students are also required to enrol in University courses in the humanities and English. Industrial and hospital training is also an integral part of the programme.

PROGRAMME OUTLINE

Student will be exposed to basic communications and English courses as well as basic bioscience and introductory courses in pharmacy.

The student will be taught core pharmacy courses related to pharmaceutics, pharmacology, chemistry and compulsory courses.

A combination of advanced level core courses in the area of pharamaceutical technology will be taught. The students will undergo industrial pharmacy training on completion of Year 3.

Core courses related to clinical and community pharmacy services will be taught, which prepares the students to undergo the training in community, hospital and clinical pharmacy domains.

Upon completion of the university programme, graduates have to undergo provisionally registered pharmacist training for 12 months in a government hospital or institutions recognized by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia. Subsequently, they will be attached to the government hospital/institutions for a period of 1 year for compulsory service. The graduates are required to pass the Forensic Pharmacy and Ethics Examination conducted by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia. Subsequently, they will be attached to the government hospital/institutions for a period of 1 year for compulsory service. The graduates are required to pass the Forensic Pharmacy and Ethics Examination conducted by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia, before they are allowed to practice as Fully Registered Pharamacists.
