The Faculty of Biotechnology has in place impressive facilities both for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. These include laboratories for molecular biology, plant tissue culture, applied biology and general biotechnology. Besides these on-site facilities, several senior staff have on-going collaborative programmes with local universities and institutions, among which are the Institute of Biological Sciences, University of Malaya and the Centre for Biotechnology at the Malaysian Agriculture Research & Development Institute in Kuala Lumpur. A Centre for Bioinformatics is in the process of being established by collaborative linkages with overseas centres of excellence. Besides participating in public awareness programmes, the Faculty is also actively involved in forging links with agencies and institutes as well as suitable industry partners to help establish a strong presence in biotechnology in the Northern Triangle.
