Introduction

The Faculty of Engineering and Computer Technology (FECT) at AIMST University offers unique opportunities for frontiering, innovative education and research. The Electrical and Electronics Engineering programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, and are designed according to the specifications set by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and Quality Assured by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). Similarly the Information Technology (IT) programmes are fully accreditated by MQA.

The programmes offer curricula that combine a strong theoretical background with hands-on experience in excellent labs, and focus on teamwork and communication skills. The building infrastructure is created in a manner which is conducive for the learning process. Currently FECT is pioneering research in the core areas of RF/Microwave engineering, IT and nanotechnology.

The faculty has laid plans for establishing eminence in key areas of RF/ Microwave engineering, communications, signal and image processing, information technology infrastructure ( database, storage, networks, and security), machine learning, human-computer interface, graphics and visualization, optoelectronics and photonic systems, remote sensing and environmental technology, software engineering, global services management and engineering, VLSI and nanosystems including bionanomaterials, nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS).

Enhancing Quality & Quantity
» Engineering Degree
The introduction of a 4 years engineering discipline with strong ICT (electrical, electronics, communications and computer), software development and programming curriculum as the foundation is essential for engineering and IT services business growth. The initiative also looks into consolidating the currently offered ICT degree into a few standard degree programs.

» IT Degree
The introduction of 3 years IT discipline with a strong software development and programming curriculum as the foundation is essential for IT services business growth.

» Global Engineering and Software Engineering Institute
Establishing of an AIMST University program that provides industry oriented engineering and software engineering training and research environment to students and faculty members is essential to deliver effective engineering and IT education.

» English and Soft skills
All faculty and students will need compulsory training in English and other soft skills for better employability of entry students.
