| BACHELOR OF PHARMACY (HONS) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

This program has been structured into 2 long semesters and a short special semester for each year of study. Each long semester is of 14 weeks duration, while short semester is of 7 weeks duration. A comprehensive coverage is provided in the course of basic bioscience subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Microbiology as well as Pharmaceutical Technology, Medicinal Chemistry,Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy. The curriculum also includes elective subjects such as geriatric pharmacy, veterinary pharmacy, drug modelling, pharmacoeconomics and alternative medicine. In addition to the technical subjects, students also compulsorily undertake University courses in the humanities and advanced English. Industrial and Hospital training are also essential components of the taught programme. Following successful completion of the University programme, graduates have to undergo pupilage for 12 months in a Government or Private Hospital, pharmaceutical industry or pharmacy retail outlet recognized by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia, compulsorily serve at the government hospital for stipulated time and also pass the Forensic Examination conducted by the Board before they are allowed to provisionally register and practice in the country. |

The Diploma in Pharmacy is designed to teach students the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for the practice of Pharmacy. The objective of the Diploma in Pharmacy programme is to prepare trained Pharmacy Assistants to provide a support service to the fully trained Pharmacists in the Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy and also be trained to assist Pharmacists to manage community pharmacy outlets. The Assistant Pharmacists will be able to apply knowledge gained in the fields of Health and Behavioral Sciences, Clinical, Hospital and Community Pharmacy. Their capabilities consist of being able to demonstrate competent and compassionate skills in assessing health care needs by assisting the trained Pharmacist. |

A successful student after Diploma in Pharmacy will not have any problem in getting a job. The career opportunities are abundant in both the public and private sectors in our country which continues to face a severe shortage of Pharmacy Assistant and Pharmacists. These opportunities are in Government and Private Hospitals, Community Pharmacy Clinics, and Pharmaceutical Industries. |

On successful completion of the programme, eligible students may pursue Bachelor of Pharmacy ( Hons) at AIMST. The maximum permissible Credit Transfer will be granted to all the eligible candidates. |
