Our current expertise lies mainly in
integrating biodiversity with biotechnology towards obtaining value-added
products for Agro-Biotechnology, Industry and Medical Biotechnology. A
special area of interest is Bioinformatics for Functional Genomics and
Systems Biology. (See below). Projects have also been developed,
collaboratively, with staff from the Faculty of Medicine and Health
Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Technology and the
Department of Materials Science within the Faculty of Applied Sciences. The
