Entry Requirements

Curriculum outline

This course places emphasis on understanding the dynamic contexts of the information systems. The programme is intended to develop students’ understanding of the technological elements in the evolution of the Information Systems. The programme also provides a link between computing and the broader industrial contexts in which computing is applied.

Internet based subjects are also incorporated into the curriculum design. These subjects enable students to acquire specific knowledge and skills related to the development of web-based systems and e-commerce operation. Students who graduate from this degree programme will be able to build careers in the areas of Information Systems in various organizations.

In addition, students must fulfill the requirements of the LAN, English and University Elective Courses as specified under the Center for General and Extracurricular Studies.

In the first year of the Management Information Systems degree program, students are exposed to elementary level subjects on management and information technology. It is the year of preparation before embarking into the intermediate level in year two. Strong foundation will be laid in the first year in order for the students to be prepared for the subsequent years.

Intermediate and advanced subjects are introduced in year two. Students will be coached to utilize the knowledge and tools to analyse the problems.

In the final year, students will be exposed to the Problem Based Learning Method. Students are expected to develop solutions for given problems. Every student is required to carry out research independently under the supervision of an academic staff and to submit a dissertation.

Industrial training of three months is compulsory. This is to enhance the employability of the graduates.

Entry Requirements

Curriculum outline

In the first year of the Finance and Management degree programme, students are exposed to introductory level subjects of Finance and Management. This will form a strong foundation for first year students and prepare them adequately for the subsequent years.

In year two, students will be introduced to intermediate and advanced subjects. These subjects will enable the students to utilize their basic quantitative knowledge in analyzing problems.

In the final year, the learning method will be based on analysing case studies of business firms pertaining to financial aspects. Individual students need to carry out a research under the supervision of an academic staff. Students will undergo three months industrial training which will prepare them for professional careers in Malaysia and abroad.
