Department of Electrical Engineering

Introduction:

Electrical Engineering is a diverse and dynamic area of study. Over the last 40 years, electrical engineers in both industry and academia have revolutionized the world. The phrase "high tech" refers specifically to electrical engineering innovations and productivity. Perhaps in no other discipline do undergraduate students have the opportunity to master such a diverse spectrum of knowledge. Indeed, new graduates quickly find themselves becoming experts in areas of electrical engineering unheard of 20 years ago. A degree in Electrical Engineering is an excellent basis for life-long learning. Electrical Engineering is a broad field encompassing such diverse subject areas as electro-magnetics, power systems, computers, controls, electronics, digital systems, communications, signal processing and physics of electronic devices. Electrical engineers are involved in the design of devices that allow new frontiers to be explored in areas ranging from biology to exploring deep space.

Building Skills and Abilities:

Electrical and electronic engineering course covers electrical power, electronics and electromagnetic fields including power generation, transmission and distribution, automation, traction and electronics. The course in electronics and communication engineering covers a wide range of topics such as electromagnetic fields and transmission lines, analog and digital communication, antennas and microwave engineering. Students interested in electrical and electronic engineering should have interest in mathematics and technical subjects and be able to think logically. The study of electrical and electronic engineering would help in the development of Malaysia.
