Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electrical & Electronic:

                                                                              Electrical and electronic engineering course covers electrical power, electronics and electromagnetic fields including power generation, transmission and distribution, automation, traction and electronics. The course in electronics and communication engineering covers a wide range of topics such as electromagnetic fields and transmission lines, analog and digital communication, antennas and microwave engineering. Students interested in electrical and electronic engineering should have interest in mathematics and technical subjects and be able to think logically. The study of electrical and electronic engineering would help in the development of Malaysia.

GCE A-Levels

Pass grades in three subjects, including Mathematics and Physics

STPM

C, C, C in three subjects, including Mathematics and Physics

AIMST  Foundation in Science

C, C, C in three subjects, including Mathematics and Physics

CIMP / SAM / CPU / MUEY / NSW / HSC / UNSW Foundation / UEC

C, C, C in three subjects, including Mathematics and Physics; For UEC, grade for each subject should be at least C6

SIT Foundation / Government Matriculation

CGPA ≥ 2.0; Subjects taken must include Mathematics and Physics

Diploma in Engineering

CGPA ≥ 2.0

International Baccalaureate

6 subjects, including 2 science subjects at Higher Level Two of the Higher Level subjects should be Mathematics and Physics with a minimum score of 3 points in each subject Total points should be a minimum of 24, excluding bonus points

Indian & Bangladesh HSC

Indian HSC: C+, C+ (50 - 56)
Bangladesh HSC: B, B (57 - 65)

Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering:

                                                                      The Diploma programme in Electrical & Electronics Engineering at AIMST is designed to provide the necessary theoretical knowledge and the required practical skills to individuals who are eager to join the electronics and communication industries work force at an early stage. The programme provides students with the relevant academic and "hands-on" experience necessary for them to quickly become productive in their jobs after graduation. The programme provides the flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for progression to further study; and upon successful completion of this programme, graduates may pursue their studies for the prestigious degree programme B. Eng (Hons.) either in Electronics & Communication or Electrical & Electronics Engineering at AIMST.

These programme students are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise in meeting the challenges in a wide range of electrical, electronic and communication industries. It also incorporates a design project, which aims at developing the students’ skills in setting procedures for design, problem solving and report writing.

Minimum Entry Requirements

SPM/O-Levels or Equivalent                            3 credits (including in Mathematics)

Career Opportunities

Graduates from this programme are expected to join the industry for careers as Assistant Engineers or Technicians in the fields of power systems, data communication, service and maintenance of electrical & electronic appliances, design of embedded systems and applications.

Duration:                                  7 (Seven) semesters equivalent to 2 years 4 months
