About Student Affairs:

The Student Affairs Division is one of the crucial departments in the administration of the University and deals with all matters concerning students. This division deals, in the main, with student welfare and with various aspects of student development.

Student welfare is concerned with accommodation, health, personal and financial problems, food and security, whereas student development includes the organizing of and participating in activities of student clubs, associations, societies and sports, in addition to cultural, debating, motivational and similar activities by the student.

In addition to the above functions, the division also endeavours

  • To enforce student discipline and ensure that behavior of students comply with the rules and regulations approved by the University's authorities;
  • To improve the quality of service that meets the needs of students.

Student Affairs Division assists students in obtaining financial aid for their courses through a number of agencies.

Students may apply for the National Higher Education Student Loan Scheme, (Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional - PTPTN), upon enrolment to a degree programme at AIMST, provided they possess the minimum of 3 credits at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). PTPTN was set up by the Government to assist students pursuing tertiary education in obtaining financial assistance at low interest rates. The loan is repayable six months after graduation.

AIMST offers students with excellent performance in the SPM with discounts on tuition fees upon enrolment in our Foundation programmes. The discount rate is based on the number of ‘A’s obtained and could be as high as 70%of their tuition fees.

Many banks offer education loans and AIMST students have successfully obtained loans from Bank Rakyat, RHB Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Alliance Bank. Supporting documents for applications to these banks, scholarship foundations and other institutions such as the EPF and SOCSO may be obtained from Student Affairs.

An important unit under the umbrella of Student Affairs is the Counselling & Advisory Services Unit (CASU). Students who are overawed by life on campus may visit our experienced Counsellors who will assist them to cope with the intricacies and complexities of University life.

The CASU also organizes career advancement seminars and services occasionally to assist students in their choice of  studies as well as to prepare them for opportunities in industry.

AIMST encourages students not only to excel academically but also to participate in extracurricular activities, thus enhancing leadership and management skills as well as to inculcate interest and creativity that compliment the goals of the overall curriculum. This is done by participation in student associations and clubs.

Among the current active student associations are:

  • AIMST Degree Students’ Association (ADSA)
  • AIMST Matriculation Students’ Association (AMSA)
  • Medical Students’ Association (MEDSA)
  • AIMST Basketball Club
  • AIMST Football Club
  • AIMST Hockey Club
  • AIMST Badminton Club
  • AIMST Business Club
  • AIMST Techno-preneurship Club
  • AIMST Friendship Club
