Appointment and Conditions of Appointment

A new staff employed by AIMST shall undergo a probationary period of six months. Any variation will be stated in the letter of employment.

If at any time subsequent to the appointment of a staff, it is found  that any statement contained in the Employment Application Form or the Curriculum Vitae is false or misleading, the staff shall be liable for instant dismissal or any other disciplinary action deemed appropriate by AIMST.

AIMST may extend the initial probationary period if it is considered necessary. Such extension shall normally occur when AIMST feels that a staff although currently not performing satisfactory, may improve if given an extended probationary period.

The notice of termination of employment, whilst a staff is on probation shall be one (1) month by either party, unless otherwise stated in the letter of employment. Such notice of termination may be given without assigning any reason.

Where a staff is confirmed by AIMST in his/her appointment, he/she shall be given a letter of confirmation.

A staff shall not normally be given an increment upon confirmation. However, in exceptional cases where, for example, a staff has taken on much more responsibilities during his /her probationary period compared to what was originally envisaged, an adjustment may be considered.

The employment of a confirmed staff may be terminated by either party by giving the other notice in writing which shall not be less than three (3) months, unless otherwise stated in the letter of appointment.

In all cases, either party may terminate the employment by paying three (3) months salary in lieu of the required notice. In any case, the party serving the notice of termination may request the notice requirement to be shortened or waived, but it shall be at the discretion of the party receiving the notice to decide whether to waive or shorten the notice requirement.

However, the notice shall not apply in cases of dismissal for misconduct, termination of contract due to willful breaches or discharge of contract due to non-performance, incapability of performance or incapacity to perform.

A staff shall be subjected to transfer between and within the various departments of AIMST at the sole discretion of the Management.
