The AISS Educational tour to Penang Island started with the assembling of the students that the student lounge 9:00a.m (March 15, 2008) prompt. The first site we visited was Penang Hill or Bukit Bendara. The Hill offered a picture perfect view of the entire city of Penang. We used the funicular train to get to the top of the hill. The weather up in the hill was cool and the rose gardens were beautiful, we took many photographs and had our lunch in the panoramic hillside café.
After lunch, we headed for the second place on our agenda which was the Buddhist temple (Kek Lok Si temple) which is one of the finest temples in South-East Asia. This site features gardens, a turtle pond shrines and beautiful sculptures.
After that, we had tea and light snacks in a ‘mamak’ stall at the city centre before heading for Batu Ferringhi which was by far the best part of the entire trip. We went paragliding and some of us even went on the banana boat. We also went for a quick shopping at the well known Batu Ferringhi’s sidewalk bazzar. Before it was time to call it a night we had dinner at an Indian cuisine in Batu Ferringhi.
The AISS educational tour to Penang Island will be a moment we shall all cherish and remember.
