S. Anandan Shanmugam currently employed as a faculty member of the Engineering School of University of Nottingham Malaysia campus. He graduated with B. Eng in Electronics Engineering from UKM in 1989 and worked as a product development engineer with National Semiconductor for 4 years, after which I continued my education and completed my Masters in Technology in 1995. Currently he is pursuing PhD at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in medical imaging.
In 1996, He did an internship with University of West Florida as a research assistant, after which he worked as a lecturer in UiTM for a year before joining University of Malaya as a lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He spent about 9 years teaching and doing research in biomedical electronics and systems before he left Universiti Malaya in 2006.
He was part of the pioneer team of educators who developed the curriculum as well as established the network of biomedical engineers and professional society in Malaysia.
His research interest includes biomedical electronics and instrumentation as well as medical image analysis. He has collaborated with surgeons to develop or modified surgical tools and instruments as part of his academic interest.
