Diploma in Biotechnology
Biotechnology is a broad area of biology, involving the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make products. Depending on the tools and applications, it often overlaps with related scientific fields. In AIMST University, Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS) has set its goals to promote a two-year cutting-edge multidisciplinary programmes that are infused with the elements of innovativeness and technopreneurship designed to enhance market competitiveness. Diploma in Biotechnology programme will provide adequate knowledge and essential skills to the student on the various scopes of biotechnological processes that impact our daily lives. FAS teaching staffs are highly experienced academicians from different fields of interests. Currently, as an introductory price, a special rebate of RM 8 000 is given to candidates. Pay a registration fee of only RM 500 and the rest will be covered by PTPTN*. (Original university fee: RM 22 100, introductory rebate: RM 8000; discounted fee: RM 14 000; registration fee: RM 500)

Minimum entry requirement to sign up for the course is to finish SPM with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent.

|Diploma||i. Possess Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent;|
ii. Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in any subject, or its equivalent; and possess SPM with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent;
iii. Pass Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Maqbul, or its equivalent; and possess SPM with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent;
iv. Pass Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) (Level 3, MQF) in a related field and possess SPM with one (1) credit;
v. A Certificate (Level 3, MQF) in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, or its equivalent.
vi. Passed UEC with minimum 3Cs (including Mathematics and a Science Subject) and a Pass in English.
vii. Other qualifications as recognised by the Senate of AIMST University as equivalent to SPM
Note: The credit requirement at SPM level for candidate in categories (ii) and (iii) can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM / STAM level are equivalent/higher.
English language requirement for international students for the admission in proposed diploma in biotechnology course will be as follows:
International students are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) OR Band 3 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) OR its equivalent.
The student will discover and explore the importance of biotechnology in the rapidly developing health, food, agriculture, and environmental industrial sectors.
Upon graduation, the student will be well-equipped with the knowledge of biotechnological processes, techniques and industrial experience to embark on an exciting career such as entrepreneur, environment or safety officer, laboratory or research assistant, product sales and marketing, and quality controller.
